NY 1 News
November 12, 2006Governor-elect Eliot Spitzer heads back to New York Sunday after meeting with the governor of Puerto Rico and speaking to a conference of Latino lawmakers. On Saturday, he met with the island's governor, Anibal Acevedo-Vila, a fellow Democrat who backed his candidacy. The discussion between the two leaders soon turned to the White House. "The answers that the Bush administration has been proffering for six years now simply don't appear to the public to be responsive to the needs we share" Spitzer later spoke at a conference of Latino lawmakers. He pledged to create an administration open to views from politicians of all parties. Puerto Rico is the homeland of more than one million New Yorkers.
