Blogging around the Christmas Tree.........

Liz Benjamin(Capitol Confidential) reports Conservatives To Spitzer: End Member Items .....ok...but why does State Conservative Party Chairman Mike Long use "California" as a role model??? California is the most dysfunctional state in the union....Liz thinks Long is giving us the short end of the stick.."An interesting subtext to this is that Long is an ally of Senate Majority Leader Joseph Bruno, R-Brunswick, whose allocation of two $250,000 member items to a private company in which his longtime friend, Jared Abbruzzese, was involved is reportedly being scrutinized as part of the FBI probe of Bruno’s outside business interests......ahhhhhhh......so maybe Long's Letter to Spitzer is not too kosher as well......pork is pork.....Liz thinks Sen Dean Skelos is not a real happy camper now that Balboni has jumped ship....Bruno’s Congrats and speaking of happy campers..some fellow republican senators are ready to roast Bruno for not letting them know about the ongoing fbi investigation......Azi Paybarah(The Politicker) ponders the implications of a special election to replace Balboni Special Election Legacy "Balboni, and his Republican predecessor John Tully, both won the seat in special elections held on Election Day. (The years were 1997 and 1982, respectively, according to living encyclopedia Jerry Skurnik and state Board of Elections spokesman Lee Daghlian.) So in that respect, history seems to be on the GOP's side.
Then again, the current voter registration in the district favors Democrats according to figures
here and here." With the right candidate..the dems will take this seat back......Nassau has been slowly sliding into the democratic corner for years now...speaking of Candidates....Liz Benjamin reports this special election will be Mondello’s First Test "Two names have been floating around as possible special election contenders.
For the Democrats: Nassau County Legislator
Craig Johnson, a longtime Spitzer supporter who was particularly outspoken in favor of the AG during his primary with Suozzi.
For the Republicans: Nassau County Clerk
Maureen O’Connell, a former state assemblywoman who also served as the deputy mayor of the Village of East Williston. O’Connell was the replacement candidate Balboni had in mind if he had decided to run statewide this year. " Liz doesn't know Mondello very well........Balboni will have zero input on candidate selection...........andy
