Hevesi to repay NYS $206K for wife's driver

WABC NEWS ONLINE

Eyewitness News
(New York-WABC, Dec. 12, 2006) - New York state Attorney General Eliot Spitzer's office says state Comptroller Alan Hevesi has agreed to repay the state a total of $206,293.79 for using a state employee to drive for his wife.
Hevesi had been under investigation for using a state worker as a chauffeur for his wife.
Earlier, Hevesi paid the state about $83,000. He was later ordered by Spitzer's office to give another $90,000 that was being held in escrow.
Under an agreement with Spitzer's office, Hevesi will pay another $33,604 within 10 days.
The New York state Ethics Commission in October said the comptroller violated the law when he used a staffer to chauffeur his wife from 2003 to mid-2006. Hevesi claimed the driver was needed to provide security for his wife.
Hevesi apologized for the action, but said he did not break the law. He still faces a criminal probe and could be removed from office.

Ok......complete financial restitution is being made by Hevesi........at least part of the puzzle has been revealed........what conclusion will the Grand Jury and Albany DA come up with...stay tuned...........andy
