NO GRUDGES?

Spitzer, Suozzi will meet - in Suffolk

Do you think Suozzi should have been a little more cordial the last time Spitzer visited Nassau County??

Apparently Eliot Spitzer, the governor-elect, doesn't want to look as if he holds grudges. He's due to meet this morning with local officials, including his former primary opponent, Nassau County Executive Thomas Suozzi.Suozzi ran against the popular state attorney general, at one point attacking his involvement in a family charitable foundation, before losing badly.Spitzer has met with other local officials across the state. Today's gathering was to include Steve Levy, the Suffolk executive, William Lindsay, Suffolk's presiding officer, Judy Jacobs, Nassau's presiding officer, Matt Crosson, president of the Long Island Association, and John Durso, head of the Long Island Federation of Labor."It's a courtesy meeting for local government officials," said a Democrat familiar with the players. "...It would have been a news story if Suozzi was excluded."But courtesy might go only so far. First slated for a diner on the Nassau-Suffolk border, the site was shifted to the 12th-floor conference room at Levy's Hauppauge office.- Celeste Hadrick on Long Island
