AP Interview: Bruno says LI special election ``difficult'' for GOP

Newsday AP Story MARC HUMBERT

Bruno is already making excuses why the Republicans are going to lose the upcoming special election to replace Balboni......"State Senate Majority Leader Joseph Bruno said Wednesday that a special election next month on Long Island is going to be "a difficult race" for his chamber's GOP majority and warned Gov. Eliot Spitzer to mind his electoral manners as voting nears. "That's probably the most competitive district on Long Island," Bruno told The Associated Press." "Competitve" means they are already losing this one....now listen to this nonsense Bruno is spouting...... "hope Eliot remembers what he said during the campaign and after the campaign about the campaigns being over (and) partnering with Republicans," Bruno told the AP. "I hope he remembers that going into this special election and recognizes that checks and balances are the best form of government and one-party rule doesn't serve anybody's purpose. "His people have been very aggressive. They have a right to do whatever they think is appropriate, but I think they're going to have to be careful that they are not doing things that are inappropriate, irresponsible and has to do with undue pressure and really threatening in a way," Bruno added. "
I hope Bruno remembers all those "special" elections Pataki called over the years..that put us local nassau dems at a great disadvantage....this is politics dummy...no such thing as a "fair" playing field....the name of the game is winning elections........aggressive sounds very good to me..........we welcome Spitzer's Assitance.......any which way but loose......the shoe is now on the other foot............andy
