Comptroller Complications

The NY Times EmpireZone gives us The Pushback .......legislative first responder Joseph D Morelle was not a very happy camper on the Dicker Radio Show "Assemblyman — and passed-over comptroller candidate — Joseph D. Morelle was up on Fred Dicker’s radio show this morning, and between what he’s saying, and what various members told us last night, you can get a pretty good sense of the Assembly’s talking points about yesterday’s selection of three finalists for the comptroller’s job, none of them state lawmakers." According to Morelle, this was a plain old fashioned political "double-cross" ..........meanwhile Newsday's SpinCycle has Silver Says Panel Erred and War Between Spitzer and Silver Over Comptroller? Newsday thinks "Silver appears to be boxed in here. Even if Spitzer lobbied the "independent" panel and Silver completely rejects its decision the assembly speaker might be labeled as a stumbling block in the way of reform. " Maybe Silver owns some box cutters??? not allowed on a plane..but still not prohibited in political backrooms.........Liz Benjamin(Capitol Confidential) shares with us a Times Interview with Ned Regan....."Asked by the New York Times why no members of the Assembly made it through the panel, ex-state Comptroller Ned Regan replied:
“They’d never managed anything big. We looked for people that could walk into the comptroller’s office and start running it the first day.”
Regan also said that Spitzer’s instructions were clear: “up to five, high-quality, nonpartisan.” That’s not how Silver interpreted the process. He said last night the panel was charged with providing five names and thus did not adequately fulfill its task.
“The word five became a metaphor for, he had promised his conference that there would be an assemblyman there,” Regan told the Times. “That’s not the problem. The problem was, who had the goods for the comptroller’s office.” Now let's translate this into plain old fashioned English...none of the assembly guys were any good....they were not qualified......ironic..considering " "The wise men are hypocrites. None of the three former comptrollers had the kind of experience they now say is required in a comptroller finalist. Two of the wise men were former state lawmakers themselves.....per
Assemblyman Morelle and finally Azi Paybarah(The Politicker) kicks in with his own spin On Working with the Governor .per Bronx Assemblyman Ruben Diaz, Jr. ....maybe Spitzer will ask both houses of the state legislature to help him pick a replacement for Hillary Clinton??? you think he was serious about this??? andy
