Long Attacks Spitzer

Liz Benjamin(Capitol Confidential)

I am going to borrow a quote from Joe Mondello..Republican State Chair..."Spitzer's Momma didn't raise a dummy" ........there is an old political saying...the more the opposition protests..the more successful things are going for you......this weeks Reader's Digest Word of the Week is "Bemused"...glad Long is expanding his vocabulary..........andy

"State Conservative Party Chairman Mike Long today took a swipe at Gov. Eliot Spitzer for hosting a $25,000-a-head fund-raiser tomorrow to pull in cash for the state Democratic Party to use on the 7th SD race.
Long, who is an ally of Senate Majority Leader Joseph Bruno, R-Brunswick, noted that Spitzer - fresh from his historic landslide Nov. 7 win - announced with much fanfare that he and LG David Paterson would “unilaterally disarm” by voluntarily limiting their own campaign contributions.
In a press release, the chairman pronounced himself “bemused” by the big-ticket fundraiser headlined by the same man who pledged to reduce the influence of special interests and money in politics.
“How can anyone believe that “Day One” has changed anything with this type of fundraising taking place?” Long’s press release stated, and he added: “The old adage is true…the more things change, the more they stay the same.” and here are some of my favorite reader responses to this article..............

"Who really cares about what Bruno’s attck dog says anyway. Long and his party are so insignificant they don’t matter. If Long was so interested in Good Government, why doesn’t he ask his buddy Bruno to resign? "

"Perhaps the Republicans should show their sincerity by offering to disarm themselves? "
