Spitzer Says No More Excuses For Failure In Schools (NY1)" The new governor says there will be no more excuses for failure in the schools, because he is promising dramatic increases in education funding, along with measures to make school systems accountable." and speaking of failures in the schools..The New York Post seems to be having a math problem ELIOT'S MIXED BAG 'PROMISES HARD TO ADD UP" .........relax...take a deep breath...wait till the budget is presented....calculators will be allowed during this exam.....The Albany Times Union declares Governor vows he won't increase taxes and Spitzer scores points departing from the script ........a very interesting analysis of Spitzer's oratory style........Liz Benjamin gives us her slant on the chamber's responses to Eliot Silences spoke louder than right words "You could tell by the Legislature's response that he's in for a big fight," said Blair Horner, legislative director for the New York Public Interest Research Group. "They didn't seem to be standing and cheering much." or Sen Balboni's quip "Anybody who watched him with Wall Street has got to believe he's serious about what he says," said state Sen. Michael Balboni, R-Nassau, who will leave the Senate at the end of this week to take a job as Spitzer's security czar.

Spitzer Requests Sweeping Array of New Measures "Gov. Eliot Spitzer proposed overhauling almost every corner of the state’s operations and policies in his first address to the Legislature on Wednesday. He said he would move swiftly to guarantee health insurance for all children in the state, toughen campaign finance laws, cut property taxes by $6 billion and draft constitutional amendments to overhaul the state’s courts" and Spitzer Pushes Upstate In State Of State Address(WBEN) "Spitzer emphasized reform to benefit the upstate economy, which has been struggling in recent years. One way says Spitzer is to bring in an upstate office of the Empire State Development Corporation to Buffalo, with a director to go with it.
