"Gov. Spitzer promised to comb the nation for the best men and women to join his new administration.
Spitzer has made several out-of-town hires, but for many jobs, he apparently didn't have to look far at all. He's drawn heavily on those who worked for him in the past.
Here's a partial list of former employees from the state attorney general's office and Spitzer's campaign for governor whom he has tapped to help him run the state's executive branch:
Chief of Staff Rich Baum, Budget Director Paul Francis, Counsel David Nocenti, Appointments Secretary Francine James, Communications Director Darren Dopp, Press Secretary Christine Anderson, First Assistant Counsel Terryl Brown Clemons, Downstate Chief Operating Officer and President of the Empire State Development Corporation Avi Schick, Deputy Secretary for Intergovernmental Affairs Marty Mack, Policy Director Peter Pope, Senior Advisor for Intergovernmental Affairs Michael Schell, Labor Commissioner Patricia Smith, and Special Counsel Richard Rifkin."
