Special Election Extra.......Nite Time Edition

Newsday's Spincycle gives us Whole World's Watchin' -- Again catch the latest tv ad "Here's a side-door-funded attempt to make it look as if Maureen O'Connell opposes helping Alzheimer's patients and paralyzed children based on votes she took as a Republican Assemblywoman. Yes, her voting record is her record, but due to its paltry numbers, the GOP conference in that house has about as much impact as a letter to Santa. For her part, she says she favors directly funding those doing stem cell research -- but not "new state bureaucracies" in the same of such research. Anyway, here's the commercial, brought to you by a group called NY Ed-Pac. " Doesn't Newsday sound like they are making excuses for Maureen??? or is it just me??? and Liz Benjamin(Capitol Confidential) also has a tv ad for our viewing pleasure Double-Barreled In The 7th SD Two new TV spots were released today in the 7th SD race, both of which attack GOP candidate Maureen O’Connell.
"One comes from the campaign of O’Connell’s Democratic opponent, Caig Johnson, and feautres Miriam Shiff, a 43-year-old diabetic woman from Great Neck, LI, who says she “can’t afford” to support O’Connell because she voted against abortion rights and stem cell research and for increasing taxes and fees when she was a member of the state Assembly minority.
The spot, which starts airing today on cable and broadcast, was made by Jimmy Siegel, Gov. Eliot Spitzer’s former adman who is now working on U.S. Sen. Hillary Clinton’s presidential bid." One thing I can tell you for sure...the Nassau Republican Party has never ever had this much thrown against them in a local race....they are simply not used to this at all.....Mondello...welcome to Day One...........it's a whole new ballgame now.......andy
