SPECIAL ELECTION TID BITS

As always Liz Benjamin serves us a delectable plate of special election noshes..."The Working Families Party, which is running a field operation for Democratic candidate Craig Johnson, says its people have knocked on 23,427 doors so far. ".....they even knocked on Maureen O’Connell's Door....the working family rep could hear "the wheel of fortune" TV show playing in the background"....... "A source close to Johnson said two onetime political enemies - Spitzer and Nassau County Executive Tom Suozzi - have teamed up to cut a GOTV spot on the Democratic county legislator’s behalf." ...what a difference an election can make huh??? "Housing Works notes Senate Majority Leader Joseph Bruno, R-Brunswick, left the chair of the Social Services, Children & Families Committee, which helps dole out $1.5 billion in anti-poverty and welfare spending, unfilled - it’s being held for GOP 7th SD candidate Maureen O’Connell, a registered nurse, according to a Senate source." maybe Bruno is smoking that "funny stuff" Sen Al D'Amato keeps talking about??? and finally "Sen. Liz Krueger, D-Manhattan, who played the role of O’Connell in Johnson’s debate prep (the first debate was this morning, to air on Feb. 1), slammed the Republican Nassau County Clerk for her “evolving stance on stem cell research.” Even Newsday is picking up on the transformation of Maureen "Maureen O'Connell, the Nassau County clerk running for state Senate, is not only voicing solidarity with Democrat Spitzer's reform message these days, she's also saying supportive things about Democrat Tom DiNapoli in the Assemblyman's bid for state comptroller." I guess running as a Republican this year..is not the way to go.......andy
