Unable to undo his predecessor’s last-minute appointments, Gov. Eliot Spitzer is trying the next best thing: Eliminating a temporary commission where former Gov. George Pataki gave his former chief of staff, John Cahill, a $101,500 job....also .Sunset of a Midnight Appointment.....there will be Charter Battles Ahead between Spitzer and the legislature promises to be over the governor’s plan to raise the state’s charter school cap from 100 to 250. Leading lawmakers in the Assembly are already on record against it — ‘’That’s a big problem for me and others in our conference,'’ said Assembly Democratic Majority Leader Ron Canestrari of C0hoes — and others like New York State United Teachers President Dick Iannuzzi also expressed concerns, especially for the impact that charters have on public school finances. Speaking of battles ....there appears to be A Race Within A Race .........Republican 7th SD candidate Maureen O’Connell has taken out ads in two Long Island weeklies in which she endorses Assemblyman Tom DiNapoli, D-Great Neck, for state comptroller and calls on her Democratic opponent, Craig Johnson, to do the same......Don't you just love Republicans that try and make believe they are Democrats.....and Liz Benjamin reports Spitzer’s New Slogan (see picture above) and if you are "hooked on phonics" you will love Yet Another Spitzerism: Pivoting On A Paradigm ......and Lt. Governor David Paterson thinks confession is good for the soul Steamrolling and Confessing and the health unions are already fighting back..afraid they are going to lose their stranglehold on Albany and the state budget 1199 Goes to War ........they also produced some campaign brochures for Maureen...targeting voters with an extremely low IQ The Health Candidate "I am against breast cancer and for keeping kids healthy" wow.......stunning huh??? It must be tax time....can you count all the CPAS in Johnson's New Ad ??? Finally Lieut. Gov. David Paterson On Lieutenant Governors thanked Gov. Eliot Spitzer for giving him something to do. He added:
"The previous job of the lieutenant governor was to wake up very early, call the governor’s private line, and if he answers, go back to sleep –- your work is done for the day. " andy
