Spitzer asks for Federal Emergency declaration in Jefferson, Lewis counties

WWTI 50

My prayers go to the folks in those counties.......who would have thought back in "balmy" December that we would get this kind of winter weather.......andy

Gov. Eliot Spitzer asked President Bush Thursday to declare a federal emergency in Oswego, Jefferson, Lewis, Madison, Oneida and Onondaga Counties after massive snows and high winds virtually buried some parts of the area in the past week..
A federal declaration would require the Federal Emergency Management Agency to reimburse state and local agencies for 75 percent of the total eligible costs for snow removal.
"With more than 11 feet of snow on the ground in Oswego County alone, federal assistance is needed because this seemingly never-ending snowfall has severely strained state and local resources," Spitzer said in a written statement.
