Thumbs Up, Thumbs Down

The Post-Journal Jameston,NY

I want to share this with you all.....someone is a Teddy Roosevelt fan...Bully for him............andy

Thumbs up to what the head of the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute calls Gov. Eliot Spitzer’s ‘‘executive pugnacity.’’ The governor himself describes his style as being a ‘‘bulldog.’’ Republican Senate Majority Leader Joseph Bruno says Spitzer is a ‘‘bully and being abusive.’’ Whatever the label, it is the governor’s way of dealing with a state government that, as the AP puts is, has a gearshift stuck in glacial. He probably does, indeed, seem like a bully to the very legislative leaders who are used to being the top bulldogs in Albany. But as Maurice Carroll of Quinnipiac University notes, Spitzer’s ‘‘executive pugnacity’’ gets high marks in opinion polls all across New York. And as another strong-willed New York governor might have said: Bully for him!
