More Additions to Spitzer's Team (Azi Paybarah-The Politicker)

Eliot Spitzer announced more additions to his administration.
They include the nomination of John Egan as Commissioner for Office of General Services; Barry L. Kluger to serve as Inspector General of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority; and Robert S. Hite as a member of the Public Employment Relations Board.
One person whose job title still hasn't been formalized is Carl Andrews, according to this phone directory.

GOVERNOR ELIOT SPITZER AND LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR DAVID PATERSON ANNOUNCE ADMINISTRATION OFFICIALS

Governor Eliot Spitzer and Lieutenant Governor David Paterson todayannounced nominations for several key administration positions.
John C. Egan will be nominated to serve as Commissioner of the Office ofGeneral Services. Mr. Egan currently serves as President of the RenaissanceCorporation of Albany. Mr. Egan also serves as Chairman of the HarrisonResearch and Technology Development Corporation and as Executive Directorof the New York State Task Force on High Speed Rail. Prior to joining theRenaissance Corporation, Mr. Egan served as Chief Executive Officer of theAlbany International Airport from 1995 to 2003. He has also served asCommissioner of the New York State Office of General Services, ExecutiveDirector of the New York State Dormitory Authority and Commissioner of theNew York State Department of Transportation. Mr. Egan studied ElectricalTechnology at Canton ATI, and Heating and Refrigeration Technology atHudson Valley Community College.
As Commissioner of the Office of General Services, Mr. Egan's annual salarywill be $136,000.
Nancy G. Groenwegen will be nominated to serve as President of the CivilService Commission. Ms. Groenwegen has served as Assistant Attorney Generalin the New York State Department of Law since 2001. Prior to that she wasCounsel for Policy and Employee Relations Services for the New York StateSchool Boards Association. From 1993 to 1995, Ms. Groenwegen served asDeputy Commissioner for Legal Affairs and Counsel for the New York StateDepartment of Labor. She was also Deputy Commissioner and General Counselfor the New York State Department of Civil Service from 1991 to 1993. Ms.Groenwegen received her B.A. from the State University of New York atAlbany and her J.D. from the Boston University School of Law.
As President of the Civil Service Commission, Ms. Groenwegen's annualsalary will be $127,000.
Robert Hermann will be appointed to serve as Director of the Governor'sOffice of Regulatory Reform. Mr. Hermann has worked in private law practicesince 1989. In that time, he worked at Thacher Proffitt & Wood, Plunkett &Jaffe, and Teitelbaum Hiller. Previously, Mr. Hermann was Counsel andDirector of Project Development at Time Equities, Inc. From 1984 to 1986,he served as Solicitor General of the State of New York under AttorneyGeneral Robert Abrams. Mr. Hermann has also served as Attorney-in-Chief forPublic Advocacy at the New York State Attorney General's Office and asLegal Director of the Puerto Rico Legal Defense and Education Fund, Inc. Heearned his B.A. from Dartmouth College and his J.D. from Yale Law School.
As Director of the Governor's Office of Regulatory Reform, Mr. Hermann'sannual salary will be $128,000.
Barry L. Kluger will be nominated to serve as Inspector General of theMetropolitan Transportation Authority. Mr. Kluger has served in the BronxCounty District Attorney's Office since 1978. Most recently, he served asChief Assistant District Attorney, a post which he has occupied since 1989.Previously, he also served as Executive Assistant District Attorney, Chiefof the Investigations Division and Chief of the Arson and Economic CrimeBureau. Mr. Kluger received his B.A. from City College of the CityUniversity of New York and his J.D. from Brooklyn Law School.
As Inspector General of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, Mr.Kluger's annual salary will be $185,000.
Daniel D. O'Hara will be appointed to serve as Director of the New YorkState Fair. Mr. O'Hara was elected Mayor of the Village of Baldwinsville in1993. He also serves as Director of Development for the Arc of Onondaga.Prior to becoming Mayor, Mr. O'Hara was a Partner at DB ConsultingServices, LTD. Mr. O'Hara worked at the Niagara Mohawk Power Corporationfrom 1985 to 2004. While there, he served in a number of capacitiesincluding Senior Analyst for the Power and Policy Administration,Regulatory Audit Coordinator, General Supervisor of Nuclear SecurityServices and Nuclear Security Specialist. Mr. O'Hara received his B.S.from Providence College.
As Director of the New York State Fair, Mr. O'Hara's annual salary will be$97,800.
Robert S. Hite will be nominated to serve as a member of the PublicEmployment Relations Board. Mr. Hite currently serves as Managing Principalof Hite, O'Donnell & Beaumont. Mr. Hite is also Special Village Attorneyfor Labor Relations for the Village of Menands. Previously, he served asSpecial Eminent Domain Counsel for several counties, cities and villages inNew York State. From 1995 to 2000, Mr. Hite was the General Counsel toAFSCME District Council 82, a statewide public sector union. He wasformerly a Principal in the law firm of Rowley, Forrest, O'Donnell & Hite,P.C. Mr. Hite received his B.A. from Colgate University and his J.D. fromthe Albany Law School of Union University.
As a member of the Public Employment Relations Board, Mr. Hite will notreceive a salary.
Jerome Lefkowitz will be nominated to serve as Chairman of the PublicEmployment Relations Board. Mr. Lefkowitz has served as Deputy Counsel forthe Civil Service Employees Association, Inc. since 1987. Previously, hewas Deputy Chairman of the New York State Public Employment Relations Boardfrom 1967 to 1986, Deputy Industrial Commissioner of the New York StateLabor Department from 1965 to 1967 and Counsel for the New York State LaborDepartment from 1961 to 1965. Mr. Lefkowitz received his B.A. from New YorkUniversity and his J.D. from Columbia University Law School.
As Chairman of the Public Employment Relations Board, Mr. Lefkowitz'sannual salary will be $120,800.
Eric J. Schmertz will be nominated to serve as a member of the PublicEmployment Relations Board. He is currently of Counsel at the Dweck LawFirm. He has previously served on the Public Employment Relations Boardfrom 1991 to 1997. Mr. Schmertz served as Commissioner of Labor Relationsof the City of New York from 1990 to 1991, and he served as Counsel atRivkin, Radler, Bayh, Hart & Kremer from 1989 to 1999. In 1982, Mr.Schmertz became Dean of the Hofstra University School of Law and served inthat capacity until 1989. He served as one of three impartial members ofthe Office of Collective Bargaining from 1968 to 1980. From 1960 to 1968,Mr. Schmertz served as Executive Director and member of the New York StateBoard of Mediation. Mr. Schmertz received his B.A. from Union College andreceived his J.D. from the New York University School of Law.
As a member of the Public Employment Relations Board, Mr. Schmertz will notreceive a salary.
