SPITZ HINTS HE'LL BACK CLINTON OR NOT????

Fred Dicker New York Post

Maybe Eliot is thinking of running for president himself??? That would be a good reason why he is not endorsing Hillary or anyone else...ya think??? andy

March 2, 2007 -- ALBANY - The surprise refusal of Gov. Spitzer to endorse Hillary Rodham Clinton for president was a matter of timing and not a signal that he wouldn't back hersometime soon, a spokeswoman for the governor insisted yester day.
"Eliot believes Sen. Clinton is a formidable candidate and will make a great president, but any talk of an endorsement will come later," Spitzer press secretary Christine Anderson told The Post.
"He was clearly trying to talk [Wednesday] about what he was doing down in Washington, not about national politics," she added.
Eyebrows were raised when Spitzer, after meeting with Clinton and other members of the New York congressional delegation to discuss state-related issues, refused to endorse New York's front-running Democratic presidential contender.
New York's senior senator, Chuck Schumer, Lt. Gov. David Paterson and a wide array of other prominent state Democrats have all endorsed Clinton for president.
Anderson insisted that Spitzer - the de facto head of the New York Democratic Party - "has always been tremendously supportive of Sen. Clinton," and she strongly suggested he would eventually support her for president.
