STATE BUDGET ROUNDUP AND OTHER STUFF
Gov. Eliot Spitzer met with reporters in the Capitol on Friday to discuss the state’s budget negotiations(Nathaniel Brooks for The New York Times)Some people have a hard time with compromise..it is either all of nothing....Spitzer's steamroller looks to be running short on steam......and Spitzer answers back....Spitzer Stands Up To Critics On Eve Of Budget Deal ......technically the budget is going to be late by hours.....Lawmakers miss on-time budget deal.........isn't it awfully funny..how people are for reform and fiscal restraint as long as their pocketbook is not affected....simply amazing huh? ......... and we learn Tax Deal Provides Added Relief to Middle-Income Homeowners..........and Middle-class relief ........oh what a relief it is..........how about this........Grannis Headed For Full Senate Confirmation......and on the 7th day......errrrrrrrr..no rest this time ......Legislature comes back to finish budget vote...........and a "mess" of a budget is passed........Frenzy yields core of budget....almost??? .........hey...let's make all the teachers in new york state....state employees??? ya think the state unions would like that??? Outside-the-box funding.................this budget process gives us all a bird's eye view of how dysfunctional Albany has become...maybe Day One was too optimistic...but you need to start somewhere..it is always better to aim high and miss your mark...then have no aim at all.....Virgin Spitzer has learned quite a bit with his first budget process..and my guess is..the next time around..things will be different.........Eliot is a fast learner.....andy
